My Story
“But there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the
greatest of courage- the courage to suffer.” -Viktor Frankl
Hello there, I’m Katie.
I enjoy working with clients who have experienced grief and trauma, as well as other mental
health challenges. My approach to therapy starts with empathy and compassion and the
foundational desire to build trust and allow space for you to feel safe enough to be honest and
vulnerable in the counseling relationship. As we get to know each other we can fine tune a
treatment plan according to your needs, but you can expect to lean into attachment and
relational patterns, work on expanding your window of tolerance, learn to regulate emotions,
and reconnect your mind with your body so that you can live life on your terms and not be
controlled by your past experiences.
We may work well together if you are someone who has experienced:
Complex trauma (PTSD, CPTSD)
Abuse, betrayal, infidelity, domestic violence
Sexual trauma
Complicated grief
Self-esteem and/or identity issues
Being diagnosed with a personality disorder
Feeling “stuck” or overwhelmed with life
As a trauma-focused and recently EMDR-trained therapist, you can expect to work
collaboratively together to help get to the root of the issue and not dismissively put a band-aid
on a wounded heart. No matter what the presenting issue is, my goal is the same with all
clients- to provide a safe space for you to feel seen, heard, and understood. It is an honor to sit
with you and hear your story and what makes you, you. My hope is to be able to guide,
encourage, and support you as you get to the other side of suffering and learn what it looks like
to live life fully!
When not in the counseling office, my greatest joy is in spending time with my husband and our
5 kiddos, writing therapy-related blogs on a variety of topics, cooking with my husband, reading
(mostly trauma or therapy-related books), and being outdoors with a good cup of coffee
enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.
I offer the following online bookings:
