Emily is a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with plans to graduate in May of 2026. She has had training in Psychological First Aid and Crisis Intervention. Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in social work
from Lubbock Christian University, and worked for 19 years as a social worker in hospices and long term care facilities, helping patients and families cope with grief and the end of life. She also has experience working with children with special needs, spending the last 6 years as a
teaching paraprofessional.
My Story
Emily’s desire to become a counselor came from seeing firsthand the devastation that grief and trauma can cause in one’s life, and seeing the hope that comes from healing. She is passionate about the need for counselors who work with children, and hopes to learn more about play therapy techniques to further grow her ability to help children process the emotions that come from grief and trauma.
Emily works with individuals, and minors 7+.
